A lot of first-timers book farther north on My Khe, then move to An Thuong once they realise the food is better and the beach is still two minutes away. Some never move. They just spend the holiday making the Grab trip, which is an expensive way to admire a neighbourhood you could have slept in.
It is not a flashy neighbourhood. There is no landmark and no famous bridge, and that is part of why I trust it. The appeal is practical: early cafés, a night market that runs until 11pm, and enough restaurants to avoid repeat dinners across a fortnight. For first-timers, couples, digital nomads, and anyone who wants beach access plus real food variety, An Thuong is usually the right call.

Where to eat and drink in An Thuong
An Thuong feeds you better than the northern hotel strip, and the walk is short enough that you do not need a plan. I like a neighbourhood that lets dinner be a decision you make at the corner, not a booking you made on Tuesday.
Bé Ni 2 is the seafood room to know: 228 Vo Nguyen Giap, open 24 hours, Bib Gourmand in the 2026 guide. Pick from the tank and get the price by weight before it goes to the kitchen. My Hanh is the big four-floor seafood place, about ₫200,000–₫400,000 a head last time a full meal was priced here. Muoi Bien is the smaller grill, dishes about ₫120,000–₫250,000.
RANG, 384 Vo Nguyen Giap, has the Bib Gourmand for 2024, 2025 and 2026. They post 11:30 to 23:30. A full meal has been ₫400,000–₫700,000 a person. Maharaja, Veda’s Kitchen, Himalaya, Mumtaz and Bhojan are the other Indian rooms in the same few blocks. Lazeez describes itself as halal.
The night market on Tran Bach Dang still runs 6pm to 11pm. Stall prices move. Most plates have been under ₫100,000, skewers ₫15,000–₫30,000.
For a drink, stay in the grid. An Thuong 4 is the loud stretch (Heaven Bar, Funky Donkey, and the pubs packed in with them). 2026 bar notes put a local beer at ₫25,000–₫50,000 in most of these rooms, and ₫30,000–₫80,000 at Heaven. Cocktails often land at ₫80,000–₫150,000. Section 30, on An Thuong 30, is the craft-beer spot, with live music and a happy hour posted at 2pm to 7pm. Hair of the Dog is a club at 6 Tran Quoc Toan in Hai Chau, not a pub you stroll to from the beach. Published closing times for it disagree, anywhere from 3am to 4am. I would check the night you go rather than trust an old screenshot.
The longer notes are under the food, market and bar headings below. The Da Nang food guide covers mì Quảng and bánh mì outside this neighbourhood.
Where to stay in An Thuong
The nightly bands are under Accommodation. These two are actually in the neighbourhood, with a live booking link. I would rather name the ones I can point to than a list I cannot stand behind.
LIVIE Da Nang An Thuong, 175 Le Quang Dao. Aparthotel with a rooftop pool. Booking.com still has My Khe as about a 4-minute walk, which matches how the block feels. A March 2026 guest review is the caveat: the pool deck was one lounge chair and a couple of seats, and there was no rooftop bar. Book it for the kitchen and the location. Do not book it because you want a pool afternoon. One chair is a seat, not a scene.

Sea Queen Hotel is the other An Thuong name on the cheap hotels guide: 56 rooms, 720 m from My Khe, breakfast listed at ₫150,000. Confirm the breakfast charge when you book. Extras like that change, and breakfast is where a cheap room learns to be less cheap.

Where An Thuong actually is
An Thuong is a neighbourhood, not one street. It is roughly bounded by Vo Nguyen Giap (the beachfront road) to the east, Nguyen Van Thoai to the north, Nguyen Phuoc Nguyen to the south, and Hoang Dieu to the west. The name comes from four pedestrian side streets (An Thuong 1–4) that cut through the grid.
In July 2023, the city formalised a section of the area as An Thuong Walking Street, covering parts of Hoang Ke Viem, Tran Bach Dang, and the An Thuong lanes. This section closes to vehicles in the evenings when the night market runs. The cars leave. The grills arrive. I find that a fair trade.
In the wider My Khe picture, the northern strip of My Khe, Pham Van Dong and the upper part of Vo Nguyen Giap, is where the big hotels cluster and where most booking platforms default you. An Thuong sits at the southern end of My Khe, where the character shifts from hotel corridor to neighbourhood. The restaurants here serve people who live nearby, not just hotel guests on a one-night stop. You feel it on the bill, and usually on the plate. A plate that tastes like a regular is the one I want.
Why base here over other parts of Da Nang
Versus the northern My Khe strip: An Thuong is quieter, cheaper for equivalent rooms, and has much better food diversity. The northern strip has more five-star options, and also more tourist-facing restaurants with inflated prices and lower quality. If a large luxury hotel is not the point of the trip, An Thuong wins. I would take the better dinner over the bigger lobby.
Versus the city centre / Han River: The Han River precinct is good for the Dragon Bridge and local markets, and hotels there are cheaper. Every beach day from there requires a Grab. An Thuong gives you the beach and the food scene in the same walk. Unless the Han River is the reason you came, An Thuong makes more practical sense. Sand in the morning, mì at night, no transfer in between.
Versus Non Nuoc / south Da Nang: The big Non Nuoc resorts, Furama, Pullman, Hyatt Regency, are proper full-compound properties with sprawling pools and private beach access. They cost ₫3,500,000–₫8,000,000 a night and make sense for families after resort facilities or couples doing a luxury stay. For everyone else, Non Nuoc requires a Grab into town for most meals and activities. See where to stay in Da Nang for the full area breakdown, or the beachfront hotels and family resorts guides if the resort is the point of the trip.
Accommodation
An Thuong’s rooms are shaped by the long-stay crowd: digital nomads, Korean and Chinese tourists who stay a week or more, expats on short contracts. That pushes the supply toward apartments and serviced apartments, which means more variety than a typical tourist strip. A week-long guest is a better design brief than a one-night suitcase.
Budget (₫250,000–₫600,000/night): Small guesthouses and budget hotels throughout the grid. Fan or basic air-con rooms, sometimes shared bathrooms. Fine if you are spending most of your time outside, which in this neighbourhood is the correct instinct.
Mid-range (₫700,000–₫1,500,000/night): Best value sits here. Clean air-con rooms with en-suite, Wi-Fi, usually a small pool or rooftop terrace. LIVIE Da Nang An Thuong is the aparthotel in this band: rooftop pool, about 4 minutes from the beach, with the caveat in Where to stay in An Thuong that the deck is small. Several serviced apartment buildings also fall here and are worth considering for stays of a week or more.
Upper mid and 4-star (₫1,500,000–₫3,000,000/night): The Avatar Hotel is the area’s best-known 4-star: swimming pool, full service, solid location. At this price you are next to the northern strip’s mid-tier hotels, and you are generally getting better food access and a quieter setting. I would pay for the quieter street before I paid for a louder logo.
Book 3–4 weeks ahead for June–August. Prices jump on the decent mid-range rooms. February to May is the dry window, warm, beaches quieter. October and November are often cheaper still, and wet, including typhoon risk. The live rate beats any band on this page. A number I typed in October is already gossip.
For current availability and pricing, /hotels/ covers the full An Thuong zone and beyond.

The food scene
This is what An Thuong does better than any other part of Da Nang. Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Indian, Turkish, Italian, French, Mexican, and more, all within a 10-minute walk. Some of it is dull tourist food. The places below are the ones worth the walk. I would rather you eat well than collect forgettable plates.
Vietnamese seafood: My Hanh is a fourth-generation restaurant, four floors, ocean view, a big room by local standards. Steamed clams with lemongrass, grilled tiger prawns, stir-fried crab. A proper meal has been ₫200,000–₫400,000 a person. Bé Ni 2 is at 228 Vo Nguyen Giap. Michelin still has it as a Bib Gourmand in the 2026 Da Nang list, and the restaurant page still says 24 hours. Pick from the live tank and confirm the price by weight before they cook it. Muoi Bien, on the beachfront side, is the smaller call for grilled and steamed seafood, about ₫120,000–₫250,000 a dish.
Italian: Cucina Luca is run by an Italian chef and the pasta tastes like it. Most “Italian” in this city is a rough impression. Budget around ₫300,000–₫500,000 a person with a glass of wine. That figure is the last menu check, so glance at the board. A menu from last season is a rumour.
Indian: An Thuong has more Indian restaurants than any other part of Da Nang. Maharaja, Veda’s Kitchen, Himalaya, Mumtaz, and Bhojan cover the usual range. Lazeez describes itself as halal-certified. RANG, 384 Vo Nguyen Giap, has a Bib Gourmand for 2024, 2025 and 2026. The restaurant posts 11:30 to 23:30. Modern Indian, two Australian-trained brothers in the kitchen, and a full meal has been ₫400,000–₫700,000 a person. If Indian food decides where you sleep, this is the neighbourhood. I would let it.
Cafés: Six on Six is the standby expat café: reliable air-con, 10+ coffee options including Vietnamese egg coffee and coconut coffee, good for working a morning away. Roots Plant Based Café does smoothie bowls, avocado toast, and plant-based mains if that is what you want. A laptop and a coconut coffee is a complete morning here.

The Da Nang food guide covers Vietnamese specialities, mì Quảng, bánh mì, bún chả cá, in more depth across the wider city.
The night market
The An Thuong Night Market runs along Tran Bach Dang Street every night from 6pm to 11pm. Around 40 stalls line the pedestrianised section. It is the right size for a first night, big enough to choose, small enough to finish.
What’s there: bánh xèo (Vietnamese sizzling pancake), mì Quảng (central Vietnamese noodle soup), bún bò Huế (spicy beef noodles), com hen (baby clam rice), grilled skewers, seafood BBQ, crispy rice paper, boba tea. International stalls mix through the lineup: Korean snacks, Japanese bites, burgers, and fresh fruit.
What it costs: Most dishes sit under ₫100,000. Grilled skewers run ₫15,000–₫30,000 each. A full dinner, two dishes and a drink, is ₫80,000–₫150,000 per person. Around 90% of stalls accept QR payment; carry ₫50,000–₫100,000 in small notes for the ones that don’t. Cash is the backup plan, not the personality.
It is smaller than Son Tra Night Market, and it is the one you can walk to from a My Khe room. Son Tra is the stall market on Võ Văn Kiệt, at the east foot of Dragon Bridge, listed 17:00–23:00. Helio lists its B.Fair night market at 17:00–23:00 on its own homepage and night-life page. An Thuong is the one for a first night when you have just landed, or a weeknight when you do not want to pick a restaurant. Jet lag and a skewer is a legitimate plan.
Bars and nightlife
An Thuong is not the late-night centre. That is still the Han River. What you get here is a walkable block of pubs, loud on weekends, mostly done by 1am or 2am. I like a night that ends while the Grab home is still cheap.
An Thuong 4 is the dense bit. Heaven Bar is the loud, open-fronted one. 2026 notes put it around 5pm to 1am, with beer about ₫30,000–₫80,000 and cocktails about ₫100,000–₫180,000. Street numbers for it disagree between guides, so use the map. A map is more honest than a blog that remembered the wrong door. Funky Donkey is the backpacker room on the same stretch. A local beer in most An Thuong bars was ₫25,000–₫50,000 in early-to-mid 2026 writeups. Cocktails are often ₫80,000–₫150,000.
Section 30, on An Thuong 30, is the one people name when they want craft beer and a band rather than a speaker stack. Happy hour there is posted at 2pm to 7pm. Live music several nights a week. The kitchen runs late. If you want a conversation you can still hear, start here.
Hair of the Dog is not in An Thuong. The Da Nang club is at 6 Tran Quoc Toan, Hai Chau. It runs later than anything in this grid. Published hours jump between about 7pm–3am and 9pm–4am, so check the night you go. A Grab from the beach is the way there. Flip-flops will not get you across town that late, and I would not ask them to.
The Dragon Bridge breathes fire and then water on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 9pm. The show is about 15 minutes. The bridge operator confirmed that Friday-to-Sunday pattern again in 2026. From An Thuong it is a Grab, usually 15–20 minutes and ₫80,000–₫120,000. The app price is the one that counts. Anyone quoting a rounder number at the kerb is improvising.
The beach
My Khe Beach is 200–400 metres east from most An Thuong accommodation, a 3–5 minute walk. The An Thuong end of the beach is the southern part of My Khe, which runs quieter than the hotel-heavy northern strip, particularly on weekdays. The sand is flat enough for an early run if that is how you start the day.

Swimming conditions are generally calmer from February through August, with warm water (28–30°C) and lifeguards stationed at My Khe through the main season. October to December brings monsoon swell and strong rip currents; follow the flag system and take the red flags seriously. The Da Nang beaches guide covers seasonal swimming conditions, flag meanings, and what to do if you get caught in a rip. A red flag is not a suggestion. I treat it like a locked door.
Sun loungers: beachfront restaurants along Vo Nguyen Giap have sun beds, typically free if you are eating and drinking with them, ₫30,000–₫80,000 otherwise. Morning before 10am is the least crowded time for a swim and the light is better for it. Bring your own shade if you are not buying the drink. The lounger is the invoice.

Getting around
Da Nang airport is about 6km northwest. A Grab car costs ₫80,000–₫120,000 and takes 15–20 minutes to An Thuong depending on traffic. Book it in the app before the arrivals hall offers you a better story.
From An Thuong:
| Destination | Grab cost (approx) | Time |
|---|---|---|
| Marble Mountains | ₫40,000–₫60,000 | 10 min |
| Da Nang city centre / Han River | ₫80,000–₫120,000 | 15–20 min |
| Hoi An Ancient Town | ₫200,000–₫280,000 | 30–40 min |
| Ba Na Hills (Golden Bridge) | ₫250,000–₫350,000 | 35–45 min |
Within the An Thuong grid, everything is walkable. You will not need a vehicle for any movement inside the neighbourhood. The Grab figures above are typical, not a tariff. The price in the app is the one you pay. I trust the app more than a number remembered from a forum.
Getting around Da Nang has the full rundown on Grab, xe om (motorbike taxi), scooter hire, and the limited bus options.
Day trips
An Thuong is a solid base for day trips from Da Nang. The Marble Mountains are the easiest: 10 minutes south by Grab, worth half a day. Hoi An is 30–40 minutes away and genuinely worth a full day (or a base move if the old town is your priority). The Hai Van Pass and Hue are longer commitments. Most visitors book a private car or small-group tour for the day. Sleep here, leave in the morning, come back to a market that is still open. That is the whole trick.
FAQ
Where exactly is An Thuong in Da Nang? My An Ward, Ngu Hanh Son District, the southern end of the My Khe beach zone. About 6km from Da Nang airport (DAD) and 200–400 metres from My Khe beach. Close enough that “I should Grab to the sand” is usually you being lazy, and I say that with love.
Is An Thuong good for families? Yes, with caveats. The beach is close and lifeguarded through the main season, and there are good apartment options for families who need space. It does not have the kids’ clubs and multiple pools of the Non Nuoc resorts. If resort facilities matter, look at Non Nuoc. If you are happy to self-organise, An Thuong works well. A family that can walk to dinner will be fine here.
What is the An Thuong Night Market? A pedestrianised street food strip along Tran Bach Dang Street, running 6pm–11pm nightly. Around 40 stalls, Vietnamese street food plus international options. Most dishes under ₫100,000. 90% of stalls accept QR payment. Bring a little cash for the stalls that still like paper.
Is An Thuong expensive? Cheaper than the northern My Khe strip for accommodation, roughly 20–30% less. Food ranges from very cheap (night market, local spots) to comparable with anywhere else in Da Nang (the higher-end restaurants). It is not a budget neighbourhood, and it is not overpriced. It is the middle, which is where I would put most people.
How far is An Thuong from Hoi An? About 22km south. Grab takes 30–40 minutes, ₫200,000–₫280,000. An easy day trip. Go, eat outside the old-town markup, come back for the market.
Is the Wi-Fi reliable for working? Generally yes. Six on Six café is the standby for working setups. Many serviced apartments have fibre-speed internet, which is why the area draws digital nomads. If the café Wi-Fi blinks, the apartment is the grown-up version of the same plan.
