My Khe Beach
Da Nang's main beach strip: 9km of sand, most of the tourist hotels, and seafood restaurants within walking distance of the water.
My Khe is where most first-time visitors end up, and I understand the choice. It is a 9km arc of pale sand facing the South China Sea, directly east of the city: wide, flat, and walkable the whole way. The hotel strip runs parallel to the beach road (Võ Nguyên Giáp). For most people the walk from the room to the water is under five minutes. The beach is long and flat, and so is the esplanade, so a morning run here is a straight line rather than a hill session.
Quick facts
- Best for: first-timers, beach-first travellers, families who want to walk to the sand
- Distance to city centre: 2–3km; about ₫40,000–60,000 by Grab car
- Distance to airport: 10 minutes; under ₫80,000 by Grab
- Beach condition: wide, gentle waves, good for swimming Feb–Aug; rougher and less reliable Sep–Jan
- Who skips it: anyone who wants quiet (it is the busiest strip) or a cheaper base (the city centre undercuts it)
The vibe
It is a proper resort strip, dense with hotels from budget guesthouses to 4-star beachfront towers. Evenings bring locals down to walk, exercise, and eat, and weekend nights add more noise. It still does not have the chaotic feel of some Southeast Asian beach zones. The road is wide, footpaths exist, and there is a long esplanade for the evening promenade.

An Thuong, just behind the beach and west of Võ Nguyên Giáp, is the pocket I would send a friend to for cafes, international restaurants, and guesthouses. Slightly quieter than the beach road, and slightly cheaper.
Accommodation
The widest selection of anywhere in Da Nang. Budget options start around ₫400,000–600,000/night for a clean guesthouse. Mid-range 4-star hotels with pools and beachside access run ₫1,500,000–3,000,000/night. The beachfront towers, Mandila Beach Hotel, Diamond Sea, and similar, book out in peak season (Feb–May), so lock one in early if that is your window. Alisia Beach Hotel is on Hoàng Sa in Phước Mỹ, at the north end of this beach road, 40 metres from the sand. Cani Beach House is the same north end, at 06 Lê Bôi, Phước Mỹ: seven apartments, Agoda’s 40 metres to Phạm Văn Đồng beach, and the hotel’s own site saying 30 metres. Agoda’s My Khe Beach pin is 1.86 km south. Cicilia Danang Hotels & Spa is at 06-08-10 Do Ba street, T20 beach. Agoda lists 200 rooms and 4 gold stars provided by the property. The beach distance is three figures: the hotel says a few steps, Agoda’s highlight says 160 metres, and Agoda’s My Khe Beach pin says 550 m. Fusion Suites Da Nang is at 88 Vo Nguyen Giap. Agoda lists it as a serviced apartment, 4.0 gold stars provided by the property, and 129 rooms. The highlight says 40 metres to the beach, and the nearby list names Phạm Văn Đồng Beach at 40 m. The My Khe Beach pin says 1.44 km. The beachfront suite hotels guide is the page that checks which of these hotel names are actually suites.
I leave those distances side by side on purpose. I will not pretend they match.

Where to eat
Seafood is the main event. The restaurants just off the beach do fresh grilled fish, crab, and prawns. Arrive hungry and point at what is in the tanks. Expect ₫200,000–400,000/person for a proper seafood spread. For something cheaper and more local, morning food stalls along the beach road do bánh mì and phở from around ₫30,000–50,000.
An Thuong has the better coffee shops, and a handful of Western-leaning cafes when you want a change of pace. For a full map of what to eat and where, see Da Nang food guide.
Getting around from My Khe
Grab covers everything. Car to the city centre: ₫40,000–60,000. Out to the Marble Mountains or Non Nuoc: ₫80,000–120,000. Motorbike hire runs about ₫120,000–150,000/day if you want to explore on your own.
Walking the beach is free, and it is good early. Dragon Bridge is about 2km north, a reasonable walk along the esplanade if you want a look at the city centre without a Grab. Hoi An is around 30km south. Too far to walk, and an easy ₫200,000–250,000 Grab or shared minivan.

What’s nearby
The beach is the obvious draw. The Son Tra peninsula is about 20 minutes north by Grab. The Lady Buddha statue at Linh Ứng Pagoda is free to visit and worth a half-morning. The Marble Mountains are 20 minutes south and worth a half-day. Non Nuoc Beach sits right beside them if you want to see what a quieter stretch of coast looks like by comparison.

Skip this area if…
You want most of your time in the city, not on the sand. The centre is cheaper and better positioned for Han Market, the river, nightlife, and day-trip logistics. My Khe makes sense when the beach is the actual priority, not a backup plan.
