Evening boat rides on the Hoai River through Hoi An Ancient Town, where passengers release paper lanterns onto the water. Boats depart from the Bach Dang waterfront (just outside the pedestrian zone) and seat up to five people. A trip runs 30–45 minutes. Official fares are 170,000 VND per boat for 1–3 passengers and 220,000 VND for 4–5 passengers. Paper lanterns to release cost around 5,000 VND each and are sold separately at the waterfront. The full moon (14th–15th of each lunar month) brings significantly more boats, lanterns and crowds.
