Hoi An Ancient Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site 30 km south of Da Nang — one of the best-preserved historic trading ports in Southeast Asia. The old town is a compact grid of 15th–19th century Chinese, Japanese, and Vietnamese merchant houses, assembly halls, a covered Japanese Bridge, and pagodas. Foreigners pay ₫120,000 for entry, which includes five attraction visits from a list of 22 heritage sites (a tearable-coupon pass). The old town streets are walkable without a ticket; the pass is needed to enter the designated heritage buildings. Evenings are the most atmospheric — lanterns come on at sunset and the riverfront fills with visitors. Afternoons are better for the historic buildings when morning tour groups have thinned.
